Well No. 4

Methodist Church and Parsonage in Colonía Guaraní

Sponsor - Rotary International/The Rotary Clubs of Decatur, Georgia, USA; Asunción and Lúque, Paraguay, SA

Colonía Guaraní is located in the Alto Paraná department of Paraguay.  This site is about a 7-9 hour drive from Asunción, on the Brazilian border.  That's on a good day!  Please see our Stories to Tell entry entitled "It Was Only Two Weeks?" to get a true feeling of the distance to Colonía Guaraní!  This project was a little more extensive than other projects, as we included sanitation & kitchen facilities for the pastor's home.

We had a convenient drill site, and enjoyed working with Pastor Blas and his family.

We lived in our tent while working on this project.  This was fun for about 2 weeks; however, the project started February, 2003, and did not finish till April, 2003.  Camping can get tiring!

Home Sweet Home

Daily activities can be challenging!

As the project progressed, living conditions changed as we were able to complete the bathroom for the church.  We then added a sink in the Pastor's house.  The addition of a flush toilet IN THE HOUSE was a major improvement for this family.  Their children ages 3, 5, and 7 had only seen a flush toilet once in their lives.

The finished stand tank serves as a beacon to all that at this location there is a Methodist Church, open for all to worship.
