August 2003 Adventures

We would like to thank everyone for all your prayers during this month after the death of Ed’s Mother, Martha Baker.  After spending some time in Fernandina Beach helping Ed’s Father, Jim Baker, adjust to his new life, we spent the remainder of the month with family and friends.

The original purpose of our visit to the United States was to celebrate the graduation from Georgia State of our younger daughter, Kara.  On August 3rd, she received her Bachelor of Science degree in accounting!  What a celebration as both our daughters joined us in Atlanta!

We also were able to visit Linda’s sisters and both of our living uncles as we took a road trip through 12 states and drove over 3,400 miles!  While in Texas, we had the pleasure of attending a rodeo.  This was the first rodeo for Ed.  Linda has attended rodeos her entire life, since she was raised in Texas.  We also visited the home of our older daughter, Rhian, who lives in Austin, Texas.  It was a joy to be with Rhian in her own home and among her friends.

We returned to Atlanta, with our first stop being – what else – The Varsity!  Yes, we did make the annual pilgrimage for a “whadeyahav” burger and greasy onion rings.

We are anxious to get back to our “home” in Paraguay.  We have received commitments for 5 wells during our travels and need to get back to work!  Any group who would like to send teams to Paraguay to help with building or drilling, just keep in touch!
